Please talk me down from a Tissot V8. Or don't...
Discussion
Specifically, this one. I really like it - the chronograph, the general look of it, the leather strap, its exactly what I'm after. Its just that its three times what I've ever spent on a watch before.
Can I get the same for less by looking in the Seiko or similar direction? Or would it be £270 well spent that I never looked back from?
Thanks for any suggestions.

It uses an ETA G10 movement with is a strictly disposable unit - there is NO option of rservicing or repairing it if there's a problem because it's cheap, sealed (by permanent rivets), and plastic. Despite it being impossible to service these movements, Tissot will encourage you to send it for "servicing" every few years. For any actual repairs (broken crowns, leaking pushers, smashed or scratched glasses, bezels fallen off etc) you'll soon have absolutely no choice but to send it to Tissot and pay whatever prices they decide in a market where they have a complete monopoly because NO parts are being released to independent repairers as of now - this is even more anti-competitive than Rolex, who do at least make some parts available!
Alternatively, look to Seiko or Citizen and get a brand with better quality, repairable, movements and full parts back-up in a competitive market that helps keep prices reasonable.
On the other hand, if you really like it and you're happy to accept the (inevitable) future costs involved in dealing with a cartel, then at least buy it with your eyes open to what you're buying into
