French Carrier Charles De Gaulle sails off to war....

Anyone know what those other two large military vessels in port are? Are they building more carriers?

I think they're Mistral Class amphibious assault ships. Their equivalent of our HMS Ocean, i.e. they carry helicopters, not fixed wing aircraft.

Mistral-class amphibious assault ships, perhaps?

It's exactly what the enemy wants - an early chance to meet their god (the strategic failure of suicide cults). Making war with both Russia and France is pretty impressive.

This isn't a knee jerk reaction it was due to leave this week. it was announced start of last week that it was deploying to the middle east to support on going operations.

What's the current record for a nation, group or person to be a war with the most nations simultaneously?

ISIS going after Al Qaeda and Iraq's titles?

At least we already have a carrier in the area for a change... HMS Cyprus.

Very good question!

I'll go for Germany, but that's a guess.

Nazi Germany, Revolutionary/Napoleonic France, WW2 Japan, gotta be one of them.

Not current, but Germany had about 22 countries at war with it by 1945.

Anarchic question - has the French carrier ever taken part in a real military action before ? I may be wrong, but it seems to have spent most of its career in port, being re-fitted, or whatever ....
