Oh Jesus the Big Guy had me going then - 2015 was no way for him to say goodbye.
So 2016 is to be his farewell tour, good on him, 25 year at the sharp end of a sport that takes a brutal toll on riders. Hard to believe he started racing World Cups the same year Ryan Giggs made his senior debut

Remember idolising him when he first broke into the scene - doing world cup DH on a rigid Kona. Met him at Bike 96 and got his autograph, and at the age of 16 to meet your hero was amazing. An incredible career. Hope he can sign out on a high.

I remember Steve Peat being the man when I was into mountain biking as a teenager. Then he was still on the scene when I resdiscovered mountain biking 15 years later (after being distracted by cars, booze and girls 
) he has had an incredible career!

Yeah it's not a Nomad as the front shock mount is on the top tube so it's a Bronson or a 5010 - I'm going to say 5010 (Solo) as it's not got the piggy-back shock the 2016 Fox equipped Bronson has.

Yep, he best result in 2014 was a 7th which he was happy with - if you watch 'this is Peaty' and later 'The Syndicate' his personal goals have slipped from Winning, to Podium, to top 10 over the years, which is still not mean feat at any age - with my Peaty blinkers on I know he was carrying the injury in 2014 that he had to have surgery on in 2015 which would have slowed him up, but I think top 10s in 2016 would be a wonderful result for him. I watched 'Never Back Down' again a few days ago, really one of his greatest assets has been his ability to evolve his riding to suit the changes in the sport but more than that his ability to up his game when a new generation of riders comes along like Nico Vouilloz, Shaun Palmer, Sam Hill, Greg Minarr, Gee Atherton and lots of others, all came along at different times, changed the sport, made it faster, more competitive, more physical - even now with the like of Aaron Gwin, Steve Smith and Loïc Bruni going faster and harder still he's still holding his own

Apart from the personal relationship he has with Rob Roskopp and SC Downhill and Mountain Biking in general is still a sport/industry where personality sells bikes, he might not win another race, probably won't he might not break the top 10 again, he may not even qualify for Worlds next year, but he sells an ARSELOAD of bikes - not all his own work by any stretch, but in the 10 pretty amazing considering they cost so much.I'm not sure SC have even been into having a massive team, they've never done will in the manufacturer standings because they don't have a female rider, they very publically didn't even bother being a trade team last year.
They will need some new blood though, especially if Greg does go to Commencal or anywhere else.
Yeah, you're right about him selling bikes and adding value to the whole brand.
I don't think SC take what they do in the world champs all that seriously, they seem ultra laid back.
But I can see that changing with new owners who will probably want to sweat the brand a lot harder to get some returns on whatever they paid for it.
