8 pulse speedo transducer.

Trying to find an 8 pulse transducer for the rover 'box.
Any one help?
Any one aware of any mods to move away from this transducer?

Do not know but, why can you not use it ? I know it effects a few minor things, tick over for one but apart from that, not a lot. My speedo packed up on the way to the MOT, thought it would fail but its not a fail. It has now decided to work again, but only after a few miles of driving. Thinking about it, someone has had your probs and will no doubt pop up and advise.

TMS TVR in MElton Mowbray have them.

They should have a browny/orange coloured wheel on the end.

Does this drive the speedo, it seems many have this just for the ECU signal - with speedo signal from the sensor above the front of the diff.

TMS , just called me back they dont have any.
I spoke to rimmers and they only have DRC 8007a, this has a part description on it of TES2800-2000 which again doesnt match what I have....
Have to keep searching

Spoke to speedy cables, they say the TES2800-2001 will work , according to them its just the connector different.
SO I can just fit my old connector

Be careful about specifying this by the colour - my 4 pulse transducer (which I recently replaced) also had a browny/orange gearwheel.

Try David Geralds - I phoned them and received it in the post the next day.

Make sure that it really is an 8 pulse/rev unit that you need by counting the pulses of your old one (assuming that it still works when cold - mine would only fail when it got hot)as you slowly turn the gearwheel (use a DVM - use the diode checking facility rather than resistance/continuity). Note that the number of pulses/rev of the gearwheel is not he same as the number of pulses/rev of the road wheel.

Mine is definately the rarer 8 pulse, David Geralds have already sent me a 4 pulse which isnt correct.
The numbers on my old one (tes2805) mean its a 8 pulser

Been interested in all the posts about early speedo's as mine has started playing up regularly after an hours driving. The speedo starts to wobble and then drop away - at a constant speed. My feeling it is the sensor - but Speedycables won't look at it without the speedo as well - which is a pain having just put the dash back together. Anyone with similar issues had any success just replacing the sensor (and where from and at what price?). Or shall I just wait 'till it gets really bad??

Take the info above, I am pretty sure it is right.
I spent 2 hours on the phone yesterday and the only place I could find an 8 pulse one was from Rimmer bros.

It seems the 8 pulse ones are obsolete now, so hope your car has a 4 pulse one !!
