Search Function

Is the search function useless for everyone or am I getting special treatment?

Whatever search I enter brings up a list of what seem to be randomly chosen threads usually starting with one from around 2004 even if it was something mention yesterday.

Is there anything I an do to improve it's performance?

I've bumped this as it's the newest 'search function' thread I could find (using the, yep, you guessed it....).
When I search for stuff, it's miles better than it used to be - thank you - and I can alter the search to list in 'Last update time'.
This is great, but can we have it default to 'most recent/descending' instead of 'ascending/here's a list of threads from 2001'.
Just another small thing...
There's also the bit over on the left where you can refine by forum category. An 'uncheck everything' option would be good - searching for 'tvr fuel hoses' currently gives alfa and monaro reults for example, unless I do a lot of clicking.
And the moon on a stick as well please. Ta

Hi Andy. If on desktop you hover over a forum, an option will appear to select only that forum. See my screen shot.
