Westfield Steering Column
Discussion
Hi,
I recently bought an early Westfield SE narrow body first registerd in 1991 and i belive built around 89. Its has a welded on steering column instead of the bolt in Aleggro one. What i'd like to know is what car the welded on column was sourced from? I think it might be from an Escort is this right and if so which model? I need to know as I intend to fit a QR wheel and wast to be able to soure a spare if theres a problem attaching the new splined spigot.
Thanks.

the universal joint under the bonnet that attached to the steering column was an Allegro one which when you collected the kit,was extended by the factory, free of charge. The column was a Mk 1 escort. You should be able to weld on the spigot directly onto the plined part that the steering wheel boss lines on to.Just take your time to line it all up.I then took mine to a local firm, who for a price of a pint, welded it up for me,and then I just had to put it back into the car.
