Can you get one without anything being actually put on the car- I was playing "chase me" with the traffic wardens at Stanstead Airport "drop off only area" thinking I was very clever- parking as far as possible away from them, making them walk over to where i was (so they can tell me to move on)and then driving off going round the block and starting the whole thing over again. Now someone tells me that once they start writing the ticket, that it- youve got it. But whats to stop them standing making up reg numbers and writing tickets- how could they prove I was actually there???

The way it works is (seen it on telly with the docu-soap Clampers) unless the ticket is issued - and issued means attached to the offending vehicle - then it is not valid. So as long as you didn;t get a ticket issued you'll be ok.

I have tried this i.e. drivn off while the warden is still writting the ticket, and i've never received anything in the post or the like.

The have to physically put it on your car in order for you to pay for it. I always play cat and mouse with them. I more or less wait until the ticket is being printed then just drive off.

So you're sitting in the car watching them do it? You'd think they'd ask you to move on first, wouldn't you!? What driver in their right mind would sit there and actually let them stick one on? (Course you could always 'stick one' on them in return...!
