Thrustmaster T300 problems

Finally got a PS4 with Project Cars so today received a Thrustmaster T300 GTE to use with it.....but the pedals don't work.
When I try to calibrate the pedals within project cars the throttle seems to work, but can't get a reading at all off the brake - is there something I'm missing here?
