Ipod Problem XK

Guys
I have got a 2010 XK and simply cannot make the Ipod play......any ideas what might be causing this please?

What iPod is it? Have you got the proper 30-ping iPod cable in the car or are you trying to use it with a USB or Aux/Line In connection?

It's the Ipod classic - car when bought had the corrector connecter - I have replaced the cable (a cheapey from Amazon) but still nothing doing......

Have you selected the AUX input on the head unit?

Actually, ETA - what cable did you replace? Mine has the old-style 30-pin connector in the armrest cubby hole which doesn't appear to be removable. Has your iPod ever worked in the car?
