I have a metallic rattle from the front of the engine but I can't figure out where it's coming from. I originally thought it was the timing chain getting loose but after the last service at the factory the noise was still there. It goes off when the aircon is turned on but was still there when I disconnected the aircon drive belt. It's due another service but thought I'd see if anyone had experienced similar.

Cheers.

Had a similar rattle before my 6k service was the timing chain, and was sorted at the service.
As yours wasn't there's 2 possibilities.

1. They didn't adjust the timing chain.
2. I'm of no use at all and it's something else!

There are four chains in the front of the Speed 6 engine ,only two of these are adjustable & one of thoes only on build of the engine as it is difficult to get to with the engine in situ.

Is the alternator and aircon compressor driven by the shaft furthest left in the pic?

Yes that is the one, although the chan that drives it is adjustable it is 'difficult' to do it in situ.

Cheers for the help Nick. I get where the noise is from having seen the pic.
