How do dealers decide where people are on the order list? Are people who submit the first letters of intent automatically at the front of the queue?

If that's the case, and assuming each dealer already has enough LOIs to cover their 991.2 GT3 allocation, is there any point in someone like me (someone who hasn't bought a new Porsche before, and has no relationship with a dealer) submitting an LOI/deposit - will I always be too far down the list to actually get a car?

I guess I know the answer - submit my LOI/deposit and see what happens..

They will take an LOI and Deposit off pretty much anyone, but it does nothing but place you on a list; they will likely still call their best customers first, then any remaining allocation they'll be in touch with you. However, it doesn't hurt to build a relationship with the dealer, especially if you are local and will be looking to use them for future purchases, sales and servicing. I suspect that was the reason why I got a GT4 over and above others despite placing a deposit relatively recently.

Sure there's no news? I thought it was confirmed. My dad has his name down for the GT2 RS.

Thanks, that's how I expected it would be.

With a new system, or simply contacting their best customers first?

I'll find out next time I'm in the dealer.
