Apparently there is no replacement for the broken shaft, It's part of the instrument's @ £200 used. Mental.

Not the end of the world I know but it's really starting to annoy me looking at them everyday.

Has anyone found a solution that doesn't involve swapping a perfectly good set of instruments?

Not sure that would work. You wouldn't want the knock to transfer to the switch on the back of the clocks. It's a good idea to have this as a sacrificial part but it might be an idea to sell a spare :-S

It's been a while since I took out my cluster I don't even remember why I did it - ah yes now I do, I retrofitted and wired up cruise control.

I don't remember what needs opening up further to be able to replace the broken bits that the OP has, that's what I was referring to not the actual removal of the units which I must say is surprisingly simple.

Theres guides on youtube on how to open up the cluster. It seems quite straight forward tbh but from reading other comments, you could potentially knock something else loose (a solder joint or something) that you wont know about until you plug it back in
