Anyone in to Mech combat games?

I used to love the original Mechwarrior games. I tried the new Free-2-Play Mechwarrior online last year and while it was fun for a while it's a massive grind and content is rather lacking so it got old quickly.

Heavy Gear Assault is a new game by a small independent developer and it looks right up my street. It's now out in early access form but their don't seem to be any reviews. Anyone know anything about this or better still is anyone playing it already and can comment on what it's like?

looks interesting, I still play MWO (grind has gotten slightly better with training ground bonus' etc) and liked Hawken initially.

I loved the original MechWarrior games (even got a Matrox card to play it!) but found the online game (Mechwarrior Online?) hard to get into.

I did enjoy the last Microsoft one (not the Mercs one, the one prior to that)

Oh Happy days.

Will definitely look at this!

I spent a stupid amount of time on MW3 & 4; I've probably still got my joystick somewhere.

I've been wondering for a while why there hasn't been any decent mech games out in the last few years. I found MWO a bit underwhelming and too much hard work.

Yep this, when I heard MWO was coming out I was really excited but it's a very dry game and soon becomes quite a boring grind. I'm hoping the faster pace of Heavy Gear translates into a more exciting game.
