Holed Radiator (warranty???)
Discussion
I seem to have a hole in my radiator - the coolant isn't coming from where the hoses connect to it, just coolant-smelling steam from the cooling fins in the middle
Am I being too wishful thinking in hoping that this is covered under the engine warranty? I can't see any damage and a hole in a radiator that's less than 2 years old isn't normal wear & tear... is it?

Be prepared for the worst as its highly likely that a stone, metal bolt or the likes has punctured the radiator. If there is impact damage to the fins (front side of radiator, road side) right where the leak is, then that is the most likely cause and as such I seriously doubt a warranty claim is viable. However if the leak is at a core joint (either of the radiator tank ends) or not as a result of impact damage then you may have a valid claim....

I don't have a 3rd party warranty and was hoping that engine warranty would cover the radiator (it is under the bonnet!). The Dealership doesn't think so.
I can't see any damage, and the only place I could see moisture was down the side where the join is. I guess that's all academic now though.

I've had two rads replaced in my Chim under warranty, neither had object damage.
Both times the rads had a seam leak.
Don't personally think you get it under warranty, unless there’s a fault in the manufacture of the rad.
Stone damage to a rad, I would expect to falls into the same category as nail damage to a tyre.
Has your garage found where the leak is coming from?
