Raises more questions than it answers, I think.

Nothing remarkable about the numbers as such, the weight thing also makes sense, though surprising he was kept on for so long being so overweight, and more surprising that his wife was the nutritionist who took him down 7kg without messing up anything else, why would that be her rather than the world class team he rides for..

Still, proves nothing either way, decent numbers as you would expect, but I think they sound a bit low given quotes in his own book etc.

Be interesting to see if the figures he gets on the turbo (a stty one by the looks of things) in the lab are the same what he could manage on a climb for example. But either way the results don't prove anything at all whether he is clean or doping.

I liked the Ron Burgundy-esque comment from Vayer

“Nothing would convince me,” he says. “He should have called me a year ago and said, ‘Vayer, you make me angry, let’s sit together.’ If you are clean and you have doubters, you phone your doubters, don’t you think? Because I am quite influential.”

hehe

If he is anything like me and many other rides then he will find producing the power outdoors far easier than on a turbo!

The test looks horrible. I have done a shorter ramp test in the past, which was not very nice and only lasted about 10 mins.

Vayer is a PE teacher and he has his own lab. Brilliant, its like when Homer builds something in his basement.

What a prick. I don't care who you are, if you doubt me why would I even bother with you personally? My approach would be very much like Froome's: I know I'm clean, here's my data, think what you like.

I have many leather bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany smile

Regardless of what you think about Froome, this Vayer guy just proved beyond any doubt that he's an arrogant tt with that statement biggrin

Would be far more interesting to see his true 20min power if they stuck him on the side of Ventoux properly rested in peak/un-fatigued form with a proper power-meter (none of stages crap or silly power inflating rings) and see what he was capable of.

What I don't like is the fact he mentions "I haven't taken anything that is illegal"

So he has been on substances that are legal?

where do you draw the line if not legal/illegal? Water, energy gels, ice baths, painkillers (although I think Sky are more sparing in their Tramadol usage than others IIRC?), caffeine, etc?

If it's a legal supplement and offers a performance advantage then he'd be foolish not to use it.

He has asthma and takes medication for that. He had some kind of official exemption for a drug a while ago too.

I would imagine around 460-490W.

Wiggins did 475W to win the 2011 10 mile UK tt champs.

What verb should he have used?

'Ingested'?
'Used'?
'Injected'?
'Eaten'?

Any better ideas?

Dunno when they're going to release their figures, if ever, but maybe you can explain why a clean Chris Froome can beat equally talented doped riders. I assume by the obligatory 'Ah, right' at the end of your sentence, that you think they're doped. Yeah?

How do you know they're "equally talented"? The whole point of elite sport is to find the freaks, the weirdos, the extreme examples of humanity.

I think the point being made is "why is it only Froome who is being targeted?"

And you dont??!?!

Bertie and Valverde have served bans, Valverde in particular still hasnt answered questions about his connections to Fuentes going back to 2006/7?

Astana have five riders serving bans (though I accept its not the two mentioned and the riders were all from Kazakhstan so I suspect something to do with a training camp there were they got their micro dosing numbers wrong and were busted?) but hey, theres no smoke without fire and I think Aru and Nibbles have dabbled with micro dosing too.

But to answer the Froome question, I think Sky have always been clean, they just did all they could at the time to try and match the riders on PEDs. Those riders on PEDs lost their advantage as the tests got better. Its not a case, as you describe it, of the clean riders being able to compete with the ex-dopers, its the ex-dopers bridging the gap between their performance on PEDs and their performance now they are having to ride clean. If you think about it the ex-dopers have lost their advantage and are now either back to 100% of Froome's capability or below it and are searching for some athletic gains....

I dont think its rocket science and nor do I think its completely naive either but I'm sure you do. As I've always said, you cant prove a negative which is why the doubting Froome will always have the advantage in this boring argument because Froome can never prove he has never cheated but then again, can you?...

Yeah we know what your position is on Astana and the other teams, if they get beaten by Sky they must be riding clean, and if they beat Sky, they're doped. You do know that Sky are buying riders from Astana, yes? Oh, but only the clean ones I suppose. And for the record, as far as Valverde, Aru, Nibbles and Contador, no I don't think they're clean, and I certainly wouldn't defend them.

I don't follow teams, I follow riders, this is cycling not football. As I said, if you or I won a race, how would we react to someone making allegations that we were doping? How can you prove you're clean? The allegations would hurt and you'd be pissed off, anything you try to do to clear your name would just fuel the fire.... and is this any different to team sky and the internet jury?
