Interesting photos, Dinkel. It's amazing how many racing drivers still smoke...even Schumacher and Prof' Sid Watkins were very partial to a good sized cigar.

However, the real question to ask is, who can name the female with SCM?

If I remember right Keke Rosberg let everyone know who he would be driving for in 1986 by casually lighting up a Marlboro (McLaren) at the 1985 season end Williams team get together.

From the days when there actually came smoke from a ciggie.

And the interesting point with JH is that his preferred smoke was a Rothman's, so when at McL with the Marlboro sponsorship deal his red&white packets of Marlboro were filled with Rothman's cigarettes.

PS no-one know who the lady is with SCM yet...?

There is a Touring car champion who is still in the series who enjoys a Marlboro Light.

Dick Trickle, the late NASCAR driver with an unimprovable name, was a heroic smoker who regularly lit up in yellow flag periods and whose helmet was modified to facilitate this.

Closer to home the godlike Vic Elford had a major tab habit.

I remember a story about Gordon Spice being thrown a packed of cigarettes through the window of his Capri due to a lengthy safety car period at Spa.

And a rather slow Le Mans car that had an ashtray fitted so the drivers could have a ciggie on the Mulsanne.

If you spool back to 1975 , for example ,you simply couldn't imagine a discussion like this. Most people smoked , so why wouldn't many racing drivers ? Even Lauda(in many ways the prototype for the modern racing driver) was a cheroot smoker . When John Player Special sponsored the Grand Prix short skirted lovelies would wander amongst the crowd giving away JPS King Size. Don't mind if I do ...

The Man. I suspect few people under 50 will know of him but he really was one hell of a driver. F1 , Sports Protoypes and rallying - in one year . God like..
