No, not the corset for my flabby gut...

How do you secure the spare wheel? In my 4.0 there are a couple of anchor points & adjustable rubber strap in the bottom right hand corner of boot, but assume these are for toolkit, as too low down to secure the wheel - which currently jumps around all over the shop.

Any help gratefully received

i had to weave it through the spokes of the spare wheel to keep it in place. in the end i binned the spare and put a can of tyreweld in instead - it takes up less space!

Yep the strap is for the spare wheel. It fits over about the bottom third of the wheel. Works okay for me but the strap sometimes comes off the hooks and has to be re-threaded. Alot of people lose the spare and just carry tyreweld.

I guess you will need to wrap the strap round the canister or something .

Or maybe one of those lovely boot tidy thingies

Put it in something bigger... mine lives in a holdall along with spare pads, tyre pressure guage and pump, spare bulbs, jump leads, toolkit, fuses, gaffa tape and other bits. Alternatively you can stick some velcro to the can and it will stick to the carpet.

My strappy thing is mounted higher up in the boot, by the sounds of it. Too high for my tyre weld, but in just about the right position to secure a space saver (has anyone actually driven their Chimeara/Griff on one? I think I'd feel safer using the tyre weld.)

Sorry, did everyone think I was serious about where to put the tyre weld , OK, mine's velcro'd to the top of the tank.

Well I tried to give a humorous response to your "joke". I know I didn't succeed very well but.....

Yep, as already stated you have to the thread the rubber strap through the spokes of the spacesaver - AND try to stop it mangling the vinyl cover in the process.

I had to remove it every time to get the roof panel in, after which there was nowhere for the tyre to go apart from roll around in front of the panel. It didn't take long before I swapped the tyre for Tyre-Weld. The can fits snugly above the nearside wheel arch!

I cut a hole through my two cans of tyre weld and threaded the strap through the both of them

Thanks for your help guys - I akshully thought youse were joking about Tyreweld - but I looked it up & found a site which 2 tins of were included instead of the 'spacesaver' as original equipment on new TVRs - so I guess I'll go & find some.

Keithskip: I heard that Aston Martin supply TyreWeld as standard kit, which was sufficient to convince me it was OK stuff! Halfords and any decent car place should sell it.
