I wont lie to you, an Evo VI is a very expensive car to run.

I purchased one in January. I'm only 22 so insurance is £2450 for the year!

Already I have fitted new front discs and pads (not cheap), and although the car has only done 32k, it's due it's 45k service now as it's coming up for 5 yeard old! Next monday I'll be £750 lighter.

The servicing is every 4,500 miles or 6 months (whichever is sooner) and will cost you about £250 each time. Major services at 18k and 36k are more.

As for fuel, you will get 200 miles per tank at the most no matter how "normally" you drive. That works out at around 18-22 MPG.

I would suggest you read the Evo Buyers Guide before you do anything else.

Count....Be very carefull with the EVO 6....I was going to buy one myself,Either 5 or 6....Found out the evo 5,Had a recall on the AYC ecu,That caused to rear diff to wear prematurely,Whilst on the EVO 6,All throughout year 1999...The gearbox had a wrongly set output shaft bearing torque by the factory...And this means a gearbox re-build anywhere between 20 - 40 k miles....Best to look out for a car thats had the gearbox re-built by specialists,As getting another gearbox from mitsu..Could still have the wrong torque figures built within.....Still fantastic cars mind....Kevo.
