Back in the day, did any of the magazines or journalists do a back to back article on the incoming versus the outgoing model? I've trawled YouTube to no avail and wondered whether anyone remembers anything in print?

I'll try to find a link but Evo compared all the GT3s back in the day, very good article and they definately prefered the 997.2 to the .1... I think there was a vid as well.

I think it cures the car of understeer but still has understeer ! well when you see the 991 review by harris saying the last model had understeer :-)

When you read the 992 reviews you will read about the understeer that the 991 had. I've never driven a 911 with a decent set up that had understeer. You just need to make the effort to learn to drive it properly

My 997.2 GT3 with a fast road setup didn't under steer really at all but if you let the weight settle back on corner entry and aggressively chucked it in it would! As Steve says it is all about how you drive the car..

And what the hell is the name of that music at the beginning of Chris' video with the red GT3? the same tune was remixed and used in his 4.0 RS video...

Thanks - I have seen this one before and remember being excited when I saw the two GT3s at the beginning... but they are both Gen 2s!

Anyway, Chris does a good job of comparing 997 GT3 and 997.2 GT3 from memory.

Thanks for the input guys. I've driven the PEC's 997.2 GT3 for half an hour and it was epic, but I need to try a 997 GT3. I'm sure the Gen 2 is "better", but, without starting another values thread - please don't(!), I doubt it's worth the 50% premium.

I do not think that the 997.2 is over valued. I think that the 997.1 is under valued by comparison and therefore represents currently the bette buy In terms of performance a few relatively inexpensive upgrades will give it a performance parity. For that reason I purchased a 997.1 club sport.

If you are looking to buy, make sure that you do your homework. I was very lucky with my car but 2 friends who bought Gen 1 cars earlier this year viewed several cars before finding decent examples. Good time to buy, there are several on the market. Ignore the doom mongers, the M cars are a moment in time never to be repeated. The like of them won't be seen again and I believe that there significance has not yet been fully appreciated by the market.
