Your Game of the year
Discussion
Personally I don't think it's been a vintage year for gaming in general.
Small handful of titles that I think are worthy of mention :
Until Dawn was ( IMHO ) the best incarnation of the interactive movie to date. Brilliant visuals, great atmosphere, liked the teen / slasher aping story line.
The Long Dark dragged me in. PC based survival title with a real feeling of being abandoned to survive in a freezing wasteland. Sunk many hours into this.
Predictably, maybe, I think witcher 3 is the best title of 2015, and quite possibly the best RPG ever produced. I've played RPGs for decades and I have to say the world, lore and quest model CDPR built with Witcher 3 will be very difficult to match never mind beat.

Witcher 3 is incredible and I never played the previous ones, which you often should or possibly need to to get what's going on. As a stand alone it's seriously excellent gaming. Incredible story, great gameplay, graphics and so much depth to it.

I don't play many games, but the ones I play I play too much.
Elite Dangerous. By a light year.
Groan! Pun intended? Elite Dangerous. By a light year.

Has to be ED for me to.
It has it's problems ( a myriad of various glitches) but then it's come from a Kickstarter background so that being said the game makers have done a pretty good job.
Only other game I've bought this year is Project Cars, quite good but not in EDs league.
Good question. I bought a lot of games this year, but haven't actually played through any to completion. Poly Bridge was a keeper for a while - and I enjoyed MGS, Witcher 3, Fallout 4 and JC3, but none of those seem to be GOTY for me. I suspect one of those will win it though.
Undertale is supposed to be good - may try that soon.
Assetto Corsa, then?

Alien Isolation is the first game in ages to grab me.
Soma is turning into a great experience. Also, both games easing me into the new Steam Controller, which is great. They don't require as much twitch reaction as most FPS.
Project Cars had a few 'Jesus!' moments. Full grid at Cardwell in the rain on a big screen... great fun!
But Alien is probably me fav of the year.

Having loved previous Elite incarnations (and the relatively similar X series) I was disappointed by Dangerous and got bored of it quite quickly.
Has to be Kerbal Space Program for me, I know it's been a round a while but the official Version 1.0 came out this year so it should still count despite be buying it a couple of years ago for a pittance. I think it's now rivalling the Civ series for the game I've spent the longest amount of time playing.

Alien Isolation came out in October 2014 so doesn't really count!
For me it's the Witcher 3 too, just delivered everywhere that counts and Gwent was great.
Other top contenders would be Life is Strange, MGS5, Bloodborne and Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Stuff I really enjoyed, but wouldn't make my top five would be Ori and the Blind Forest, Galak-Z, Madden 16 and Star Wars: Battlefront.
Fallout 4 has been a bit of a disappointment for me, thought it would be a serious contender, but I've lost all interest about 2/3 of the way in and can't muster the desire to play any more of it.

I bought the Destiny + DLC + Expansion bundle and felt I really got my money's worth despite never participating in any of the "hardcore" content.
It's the game I enjoyed and played the most this year, so that would have to be my GOTY.
Witcher 3 is good but I have a hard time getting into it. It's rather complex and I haven't played the previous parts so I feel like I'm not getting the most out of the game.
Project: Cars is my go-to game at the moment. I hated it until I found these controller settings online, it completely transformed the gameplay for me.

The only game I have played on the XBO since its launch that has made me totally forget time is Fallout 4 - brilliant immersive game, even if its a long way off perfect! I wont lie, I like the franchise and rinsed the living s
t out of FO3 and FNV but I also get bored very very quickly so it has to be a captivating game to hold my attention and FO4 has. When I try and play other games, I keep thinking I would rather be playing FO4!
