Unfortunately I couldn't make it, but was interested in a very original one owner mark 1 VW Golf they had for auction, which didn't sell.

Is there any chance any of you saw the car, and can let me know if it was any good? It is an identical copy to my first car, so would be a nice thing to pick up.

Cheers

Rich if you mean Lot 134, I have written sold for £3600 in my catalogue, but as you say the website lists it as unsold !
I guess I must have written the highest bid down !
Yes it was clean and tidy.

What! How did I not know about this, I only live a mile away. Do you have a link to the website, so I can get updates?

Thanks,
Dario

Yes Ian, that was the one, thanks very much for the info. Would have been nice to see it in person.

It was unsold at £3,600, but the auctioneer then offered it out at £4,200, first and final, but there were no takers.

Thanks Doofus, appreciate that. That's a bit too much I think, for the most basic model you could get! It just happened to be identical to my first car, same model, engine, colour, year, so it would have been a nice thing to tuck away for a couple of grand, but not for £4k...

It was a lovely thing, and could have passed for new. I think the biggest drawback was that it was only an 1100, which means that it wouldn't be a lot of use in today's traffic. Oh, and it was on its original tyres, so needed £150-odd spending straight away.

Wow, that is crazy for a 33 year old car! Unfortunately they only had 1 picture on their site, as the owner is 79 and couldn't/didn't take any others. They didn't give it great scores (3 or 4 out of 5 in most sections) so it was hard to e-bid. I will keep an eye and see if it comes up again.

Cheers

Generally, their condition scores were a bit variable. I thought that Golf deserved better (scored 94/135). On the other hand, I don't envy the e-bidder who bought a white Audi Quattro (scored 88/135) that I was interested in, until I found it was full of water...

Yeah that's not nice. I like the look of that Audi too! I will have to make it along to the next one, with my credit card in hand!
