I'm really struggling to find replacement 20" Pirelli tyres, BMW only recommend Pirelli, whilst black circles can
Only do Michelin, surprise surprise BMW want £350 each and black circle £220. To be honest I have struggled
To find the correct tyre online anywhere
Wondering what other people have found
Cheers

My F10 M5 came with Michelin PSSs, which isn't surprising when you read this:

I've just put another four PSSs last weekend. £974 fitted with Blackcircle, which was the lowest I could find anywhere. The tyres were delivered to my local tyre fitter. Zero hassle. I'd recommend Blackcircle.

Unless things have changed, the majority of F10 M5's came with MPSS & both my 2 did. I have seen dealer cars on Pirelli's but defo more with MPSS.
The MPSS comes as a BMW rated, see below.

PSS are awesome tyres, but wear pretty quickly (as you would expect from a softer compound).
I have used Kumho Ecsta Le Sport on a number of high performance cars (current E60 M5 and previous Aston Vantage).
They are nearly as grippy as the Pss, are very gradual to let go (unlike PSS) and cost around 125 a corner, fitted.
Also used Kumho V70 on the Caterham - quite light and the soft ones are REALLY soft - they are a control tyre for sprinting.

I've done 24,000 miles on my PSS and there is still life in them.
I got similar miles - nearly 50,000 out of two sets of Michelin PSS rear tyres. Changed over a few months ago and got the PSS without the BMW approved star on them. They were markedly cheaper, availability was not an issue and I can't say I have noticed any difference from the official 'BMW approved' version. Wills2 said:

I don't drive like a Grandad and drive at least as quickly as my prior daily which was an E90 M3 - which used to see the red-line frequently when conditions allowed. I don't understand how the tyres last so long, last longer than the PS2s on the M3 and yet the M5 is a much heavier and more powerful car. I do drive with traction control on 99% of the time though. Consequently one set of rear pads changed at c20,000 miles.
I think the traction control being on would explain it, Until the weather really took a turn for the worse I drove with MDM on permanently, traction control is on 100% of the time now. Gassing Station | M Power | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
