I have a US 1986 280i with a hydraulic clutch. My clutch master apparently rusted up. I forced it to cycle and after a couple of pumps it worked OK but the fluid level went down about 1/2 way. An hour later is was back to normal and the clutch worked OK.

I'm sure I need a new master cylinder. Can someone confirm it's off a TR-7? Thanks Grady

I think they are the 'standard' Leyland clutch cylinders, both master and slave.

Pretty sure they come from any of - Land Rover, Triumph TR6/Saloon/Stag, Rover 3500, BL Marina, probably some others too....
pretty common for UK classics ...

Yes they are pretty standard but with funny output (hydraulic) threads. On the V8 I have found the best solution is to order a standard Land Rover one (much cheaper - £10!) then either add a thread adapter, or cut off the very tip of the pipe, put on a new union, and re-flare the pipe.

from ancient history, messing with old Triumph saloons...if it helps.

The threads were 9/16 UNF on imperial versions I think, not BSP as you might expect.

I think the metric ones are 10mm ?? I think that's what's on my wedge master cyl (Cortina).

But who knows, maybe Land Rover used something else !
