Hi all. I've read the various horror stories around the Multitronic gearboxes in Audis of the mid 2000s but in short, us it misuse/irregular servicing etc that could be at fault? There are a few decent mileage, decent priced late B6 A4 S-line local to me at the minute and was wondering about taking a look at them.

Does anyone have any non-bad experience of them?

Not interested in "I read they were awful" type comments, ive read enough if those already smile

Cheers, Dave

When i read threads like this i seriously wonder if people have lemming tendencies. Its an 11 year old car with a gearbox with severe bork potential and 2002-2005 is right at the worst period for them.

Theyre cheap for a reason. Just get a manual, or find a quattro which has a proper tiptronic auto box, the B6 is a good car, why tempt fate with a big bill when buying one thats known for problems.

Ah, see I didn't know the quarto had a different box. So the tiptronic in the auto, same as the v6 a6s is a better option? I'll take a look.

Yes, any quattro a4 or a6 of that era will have the zf tiptronic. Any fwd auto of either will be multichronic.
