Colour codes

I've posted this in the Yank motors section but I thought someone here might be able to help?


I need to get some touch up paint mixed for my 69 Cougar.
I've got the Ford code and the DuPont code but I've tried 4 suppliers and no ones been able to mix the paint as they're American codes and apparently don't make sense here!
Anyone able to help?
The ford code is M3230 and DuPont is 4974L and 4975D and the colour is medium green, also known as jade green

Anything painted body colour that's easy to remove? Yuo can just take that along and get them to colour match to that.

No nothing unfortunately, not even a petrol flap.

Some paint mixing places can now scan the paint to find the required mixing formula just find one local to yourself and take the car to them to have it scanned.
Had a couple of aerosol cans made up earlier this year and the colour match is excellent, cost wise was slightly more than normal cans but not unreasonably so. Worth it for the correct colour match.

The cars tucked away for the winter at the moment (and there are other complications about taking it any where at the moment). I was hoping to find the codes without moving it tbh.

Even if you find the correct code it will only be an approximate match. Presumably the car has not got its original factory paintwork still on it since 1969?

The most accurate way to get a match (that actually matches), as mentioned above, is to get the current paint scanned.

Yank colours go by years as you no so when you go in to your local paint suppler
get them to look under north america ford colours not just ford.ive got a 1975 caddilac,ok its a GM car and my paint shop got it spot on but they did look under north america GM not vauxhall.

I have a mate who runs a high end spray shop as part of his restoration business, the code is only to get him started he scans the colour and matches to that, just done a friends Ferrari it is fantastic, but after 25 years its not the yellow that left the factory.
