Recommendations for a corkscrew for vintage port?

You need a proper screw, as per the photo's above.
Many cork screws have a screw with a solid shank, if that makes sense. They trash fragile corks.
Get a proper waiters friend, and don't rush it.
The cork could have been resting for a number of years, it will not want to be removed from its tight hole.

I bought a 'butler's friend' as suggested above, thanks, and tried it today on a '92 Fonseca. Cork came out in one piece nicely though has to be said it was in better condition than some of the 80's vintage I had earlier this year.
The port is very nice, had a glass with a couple of home made mince pies and it was yummy.
