Afternoon all,

Had a moron lorry driver crash into my door mirror today, luckily me moving and braying on my horn prevented him from cutting right into the side panel. It's damaged both the plastic shell and the plastic frame of the door mirror and so I am not sure what parts I need, whether it's a complete mirror (electrics and everything are fine) or just the frame and plastic casing replaced.

I have attached a picture to show which parts of the mirror are damaged, please can someone point me in the right direction so I don't get my pants pulled down my the dealer when I go in.

Cheers!

If the mechanicals are working, you might be able to polish out the damage to the black frame and get a set of carbon mirror covers - if you like carbon.

I'm sure you can get them cheaper than this, but it's a starting point.

I'm not sure you have a choice. When my mirror stopped folding out properly, I was told that I couldn't buy just the electrics - you can only buy the entire mirror. Although strangely there were apparently two options - with glass or without glass. In the end, mine got fixed so I didn't need a replacement but the price I was given was a tad under £600 (I think that was the fitted price) from an Indy.

Not sure about the frame, but the plastic back is replaceable separately and just clips on - they're not particularly expensive but they do need painting. I had a replacement one ordered as part of my buying my car and, including painting and applying the paint protection film, it came to £140.

You may be able to get them cheaper because it comes Volvo stamped so may be the same part as one of their cars, or it could be that they just make them for Aston.

Let me know if you struggle and I'll get the old spare one out of the loft and tell you the part numbers.

If there's any risk of it falling off then you should probably tape it up, if it comes off the electrical innards are very exposed.

Thanks for the replies an advice.

I have had a call back from Aston on my way home and as predicted it is two separate pieces. The back bit is £125 + VAT due to the paint and the black frame can't be replaced without replacing the entire housing, which is £300 + VAT.

I am getting a call from the truck company tomorrow morning so hopefully a bit of honesty will prevail and they will agree to sort it. Had so much bad luck with this car, vandalised 3 times and now this, all in 6 months!
