This bodes well for the power nutters out there. Shelby can take a standard Mustang GT and with a blower, a few other mods, and not a huge sum of money get a reliable and tractable 800hp out of it.

Imagine similar in the new TVR? It would be utterly insane and would take performance (in a straight line at least) to Hypercar hammering levels. An historical TVR USP if ever there were one!

Not to pooh pooh the Chevy LS, but I've not come across any 800hp versions that are streetable/reliable/cheap/warrantied.

Lots of comments on the Coyote engine in the threads about the new TVR. There was quite a bit of disappointment that this engine was not mentioned as being the power unit..............although I don't think anything concrete has been confirmed as yet whistle

That's why I posted this, but as a separate topic so as not to get derailed by some of the silliness in those threads. wink Coyote was always an obvious choice from my perspective, but this is probably the first mental hp version that's out there with a warranty and will probably be just as easy to fit to the new Coyote engined TVR's.

A relatively easy 800hp in a TVR ....just let that sink in for a second.

With the fearsome rep that the Super Snake has, I was expecting a car with power that comes on like a light switch, has barely enough brakes to stop a Suzuki Swift going uphill, and catches fire every time I looked at it wrong.

I wanted to drive a car that would try and kill me a every possible opportunity. This is not the modern Super Snake. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not..
