Generalist recruitment agencies
Discussion
Currently on the hunt for a new senior marketing role. I have had lots of calls from rec agencies who seem to think that' senior' and 'marketing' are all the requirements needed for a match! I've had calls for roles requiring TV advertising planning, online betting, niche tech and agency roles. And yet there is nothing in my CV which indicates I can do these roles. I probably can but also know that the companies will just look at my CV and write it off as not having relevant experience. Are general recruitment agencies just throwing as many 'relevant' CVs as they can at their clients? Honestly, I think I should forget looking for work and become a marketing recruitment agent myself!

You don't say what you have been marketing. I should look for that niche as that is likely to be where you will have an advantage. There are probably specialist agencies working in that specific area./minor rant over
I owned & managed a niche agency for over 20 years before selling. There are even 'recruitment to recruitment' agencies literally recruiting recruiters for recruitment firms.
I would avoid generalist agencies as they are unlikely to understand your expertise.
