Dilema! Ive allready got an appt with a recruitment agency that have told me they have some good positions available that they may put me forward for. The problem is ive just been offered an interview by an agency i met last friday for a reasonable position.

What do i do???

Do i go to the interview and then find out the other agencies jobs were better or do i risk losing the other job and keep my appt with the recruitment agency??

So are you saying that the choice is between an interview for an actual job with an employer and meeting an agent at an agency?

The interview of course! try to avoid letting job agencies know you are using other job agencies though - claim you got the interview through a prospective letter.

Look out for yourself first and foremost - it's all the agency are going to do! (as in look our for themselves).

ALL agencies will tell you they have loads of jobs on offer - it makes sense, they need your CV for when the jobs do come in. If they said "we're a little quiet at the moment" they'd have no candidates for when the roles do appear!

If I were you, I'd do the job interview and not tell the agency that you've had it. Why should you. If a job comes out of it, just let them know then that you'll not be looking anymore. Lie if you need to and say a mate of a mate is taking you on. The agency will probably ask you details of where/which company/who interviewed you because they'll know that the company is recruiting and "introduce" themselves.

Keep your cards close to you chest. Use the agency as you need to - after all, they ain't a charity and will be getting something out of it themselves. If they get a chance to screw you on commission rates they will.

It's a dog-eat-dog world out there. Every man for himself!
All IMHO of course.

The thing is that the job that the interview is for is kind of what im looking for but its not ideal. Im trying to get my way in to a field sales position and its not appearing to bee easy. Most companies want experience the lady at the agency seemed to think they had companies that are after young people with sales experience just like me.... sounds abit iffy though.

it's a no brainer really. The agency can see you at any time. Go to the interview. Even if the job turns out to be not for you you will have gained interview experience and be better prepared for the next one.

ALWAYS go for the real interview.

Recruitment agencies only want to meet you to determine if you are worthy of putting forward to meet the client.

As such the recruiter can reschedule any time - the real interviewer cannot.

I would go to as many as you can; interview skills are very useful and, as with most skills, require experience and practise to develop.
