New Winter Tyres - PA4s?

Got an E92 M3 and have Michelin Alpin PA3s on but they need replacing. Have been good in both snow and water dispersion during heavy periods of rain. Has anybody tried the PA4s and if so any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

I got Mitch Alpines on 18" Alloys on my M3 Cabriolet instead of the summer 19". Omg they just fit lol, You can push quite hard with those on and I think its rated 120mph, I went out of a sharp corner full power in damp weather and it started to slide but it was easy to correct, I feel a lot safer with them on lots of grip.

I had pa4s on an e92 m3 and they were great. Inflate them slightly higher then the values in the door and they are better.

Just get a bit squidgy in warmer weather but don't they all.

Great in damp and greasy weather too. Go for it.

Cheers for the replies, looks like PA4s are good to go, as you would hope as a progression from PA3s.

I've got some PA4s on my Golf R and don't like the feel of the car on them so far. The first winter tyres I ever used were PA2s on an E46 330Ci back in 2005 and I've run plenty of cars on winter tyres too - Jaguar XF and BMW 640d both on Vredestein Wintracs. The Golf feels quite floaty which I don't have a problem with as it has been quite mild but I don't have much confidence under moderate to hard braking. Having said that it's now turned properly cold oop North so maybe they will come into their own. EVO seemed to really rate the PA4 when they ran a set on a mk7 Golf GTI last winter which is one of the reasons I went for them, plus I'm a Michelin fan in general but I can't help wondering should I have gone for something like Nokian WR A3s instead.

YEP use them all the time 20" Michelin PA4 Alpins.
Don't fit them if temps are regularly over 7 deg C, they do not like warm weather.

That's good to know as i found them not a pleasant experience the week before last, however the ambient temp was around 12-14 so not in their sweet spot.

January promises some cold spells so it will be in it's element then.

agreed, had same set up on my E92 M3 and couldn't fault them

YES you are right higher PSI is best, I run mine @ 38 PSI all round drive a treat.

Just put PA4s on the E92M3. Feels really secure and sure on the road even though brand new. Bought from Oponeo and would recommend. Bought on Tuesday and arrived today at specified garage. Price was £130 per tyre, free UK delivery, £10 per corner fitting. In context Kwik Fit quoted £1,040 and best other price was £170 per corner. Bought tyres for the Tivver last year as well at great price and for suitability for the tyre size/spec. Very happy.

Talk about timing. Brutal road conditions in Glasgow following snowfall today. At an event with family, both cars. Wife has Quattro A6 Avant, me with Beemer and new winters. She has a couple of serious moments in the Audi, and yes she can drive a car alright, and my car is absolutely awesome. Proves what a tyre guy advised that the rubber goes a long way to handling in dodgy conditions. Can definitely recommend PA4s, better than previous PA3s.

Both on PA4's.

One thing I did notice with the PA4 is a slight chassis twist on heavy acceleration and braking, which I could only assume was down to the slightly directional asymmetrical pattern of the tyres. Anyone else notice this?

The above tells you all you need to know, I've had PA2 PA3 and have PA4 on back order (well the rears have arrived the fronts are stuck somewhere) pity as I would have loved to test them in the snow today.
