Missing my 400, so I'm at the very start of considering the possibility of maybe at some point in the future that I may begin the long search to have a look at, with the remote possibility, of finding a fine example of that rare beast, the 450se. se, not seac.
How much would a good one go for? Good condition, no major jobs to do, but not looking for a micro mile museum piece. I want to drive and enjoy it!
Any out there?

depends on how much of a purest you are, as you could get a 400SE and then just get a well sorted 4.6 or 5.x fitted, and have over 300 BHP, with a modern ECU, should have less problems as well as have a very fast Wedge.
It all depends what you want. If you want an original for its historic values and an investment, then it's better to keep to an original 450 and pay the premium. If you just want a reliable and a fast wedge, then it's worth fitting a modern 500 and just enjoy. To tell you the truth, I used to own an original 450 and I didn't see much difference from a well sorted and tuned 400.Tony.TCB.

I bought a well sorted 450SE March this year and paid £12k, as far as I was concerned this was good value.

I have heard that a well sorted 350i can be as quick as a 400SE but a 400SE quicker than a 450SE......I think we have a challenge for next years BBWF...."FIGHT"...(Bit of fun at the end of the day)...Ziga

Yes very pleased with it, always wanted a 450se from a young age and never thought I'd find one. I've made do with a 350i for the last 13 years and now looking to move this on, its on ebay, getting quite a bit if interest but no bids yet...

If I were to do it all again I would seriously consider the above.I wanted some headwork done to my 450SE, but that uncovered excessive wear in the block. That then meant either a rebuild of the existing block or replacement with a new bigger, stronger block. Money was around the same, so I went with the latter.
The car has been mapped at 333bhp on Canems, not fully run in. I'm now having the gearbox replaced with a new T5 WC box, with all the incidentals, and the wishbones modified to try and do something about the bump steer.
When I'm finished I believe that this will be a very fast, reliable and manageable car, which I intend to keep for a very long time.
However, I'm conscious that the car will be far from an original 450SE.
In my defence, the old block sits on a pallet in my garage (and could be rebuilt and reunited with the head should circumstances dictate), but I could have done all this work to a 400SE and felt less guilty about it!
