Hi everyone. I have removed by SBC due to a cracked blocked and purchased an LS2 crate engine to replace. Can anyone point me in the right direction, any step by step guides etc. I intend to do the work myself and am competent on the spanners.

First step is to get engine and box fitted. In the picture below, are these the factory supplied engine mounts?

Also can I use my existing gearbox adaptor, clutch, flywheel etc

Thanks

Yep, those appear to be the same mounts I received for my LS7.

I have just realised why that set up looks just like mine. It is mine!!!

Yes, they are factory engine mounts. Mine were new chassis engine mounts I purchased from the Factory as my chassis had been butchered by a previous engine installer.

My case is not the best for those that just wish to swap to an LS as I carried out quite a few modifications during a total rebuild.

Hopefully not breaking any copyright ;-)

How did you find the LS fit, was it an upgrade from SBC or was it new build.

Cheers Tony

I went from an LS2 to an LS7.

However, the car was stripped back to bare chassis which was repaired and modified quite heavily. New engine and gearbox mounting points were fitted or fabricated.

Not much is factory standard now. Bespoke fuel, air inlet and exhaust systems.

I sourced the engine and ancillaries myself but was able to use the LS2 adaptor plate to fit the G50/52 transaxle. The clutch is an uprated Factory one for that box.
