I will be heading abroad tomorrow and wondering if anyone can offer a simple routine I could do while I'm there. Now of course I could go swimming for cardio, but I am yet to get some swim shorts.

My usual lifting routine in the gym is doing 5x5/strong lifts/squat, bench deadlift, pendaly rows.
If I do cardio it tends to be 50minutes or so on a cross trainer or some of that time might be on a rowing machine.

Goal?
Mainly building overall core strength and upping calories in the hopes of probably doing a calorie deficit.

I don't want to do any running/jogging (I really am terrible at that). If I could do it while still in my room then great. Now I could qutie easiljy put insanity workout on my phone and follow that.. but it makes me want to throw up after 10minutes. What I am thinking though is perhaps various sets of squats/burpess/lunges/press ups.

I was thinking of doing this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxVs2qzniiw

If you don't want to see the video it's basically
20 burpees
20 push ups
20 squats

All done in 2sets, then upping it to 3 sets the following week etcc..

Now I know that generally speaking the sets/reps doesn't matter its all about how you choose to workout. just wondered if anyone could maybe add to it? I want to keep it fairly simple

2 week holiday? Why bother.

But given the stuff you currently do, those bodyweight exercises won't be much use.

Do push ups, HSPU (wall-assisted if necessary), pull ups, shrimp squats (or pistols, or bulgarians carrying something heavy).

I'll be for little over a month, not 2 weeks.

I have an app on my phone called '7 MWC' or '7 Minute Workout' which I use a fair amount as I live in an apartment-hotel for work and often just want a quick, productive exercise routine without heading to the gym or pool.

It's a series of 10 cardio exercises, much as you suggest you'd like, that are 30 seconds each in duration and will take, oddly, 7 minutes to complete with a short rest period between each one.

You can alter the duration time, number of exercises, repititions and other stuff to suit your own needs or desires.

The app offers a results tracker, activity calendar and suchlike if that's your thing.

For me, it works incredibly well.

That one sounds more like cardio.

Enjoy your holiday!

Google Ross Enamait, he's written a few good books, including one on training at home with minimal/no equipment.

As an example, one of his GPP (General Physical Preparedness) workouts is as follows:

Rounds 1 and 3
30 sec burpees
30 sec star jumps
30 sec split jumps (legs only, feet splitting forwards and backwards instead of to the sides as per star jumps)
30 sec burpees
30 sec star jumps
30 sec bodyweight squats

Rounds 2 and 4
30 sec burpees
30 sec star jumps
30 sec split jumps (legs only, feet splitting forwards and backwards instead of to the sides as per star jumps)
30 sec burpees
30 sec star jumps
30 sec pushups

Rest 1 minute between rounds.

An excellent workout to fit into 15 minutes. You can add more core work with 30-sec plank holds, crunches, v-ups etc substituted for one of the other exercises - or just make the rounds longer.

I know it is a bit late as you are leaving today, but in future I would recommend taking something like a TRX suspension trainer in your suitcase. You can put it behind a door frame or hang it from a tree etc.

I've gone for a version that does the same this, but is about 80% cheaper.

Then I just downloaded a suspension trainer app to get videos of loads of exercises that can be done with it.

I usually find bicep curls with cocktails in each hand works pretty well.

Carry your suitcase and/or children up and down the stairs a few times in different holds.

Bodyweight stuff can be supplemented with heavy items found on holiday.
