After reading many positive reports, I decided to treat my S3 to bit of Austec TLC and what better day that 14th Feb to give your loved one some care and attention. So I set off at 6am from Oxford to face the Monday morning chaos of M40/M25/M23. The intention was to take up their £250 service and rolling road offer and to get them to tell me what else needed doing. Once up on the ramp it was obvious that the chassis needed some attention although thankfully no welding. As suspected the suspension was also shot, Paul said I didn't actually have any at the front! A rusted and leaky radiator together with a leaky diff seal were also added to the list.

Up to the office to work out some prices and a schedule of when I could afford each bit of the work - ie how soon could I do that amount of overtime. A few sharp intakes of breath later, I thought I ought to ring the boss back at home to let her know I had arrived and to pass on the bad news. I had to be picked up off the floor when she said, "well there's no point bringing it back home until it's all done, when can they do it?"

So train and coach home - a ride to the station in a Griff - and my faithful S3 is left there to be fettled. I've never been a believer is all this Valentine's Day stuff but perhaps there's something in it after all - and I hadn't even sent her a card !

Part of the deal for my recent purchase of my S, is that I buy my wife a horse! Unfortunately (:-) she has not been able to find one she wants yet.... In the mean time, am planning to spend as much time and money as I can on the car, just so we can't afford to buy the horse. Thats the master plan anyway, I keep telling her my car is cheaper to run a month ( don't think she believes me though) At least the argument about the cold weather and snow, means that I can leave the S in the garage, but she would still have to go down to the field every morning to shovel s%$t!
