Looking to change the throttle body on my std S1 as guess what.......it sticks when the engine get hot !!

I see there is a 48mm one and a 52mm one, I presume the 48mm is the standard one they used on the S2 and the 52mm is the larger one from the trophy 160 MGF and S1 Sport 160.

Will I be better off with the std 48mm (std??) one or going for 52mm one??

Will it make any difference either way ??

Advice please................

the 52mm throttle body will make the low revs response a little more jerky,, but when combined with a number of other upgrades, will afford you a little more power etc...

i have a 52mm alloy throttle body fitted to my S1 111S along with a hurricane kit and eliseparts zorst.... very fruity!

if in doubt, simply get a 48mm alloy unit as a direct replacement for the crappy plastic one.... you can then wave goodbye to sticky throttle-bodies!

Get the big one.

Piece of p1$$ to fit yourself as well. Just make sure that when its in you re set the ECU by turning the ingition on (dont start the engine) then fully depress and release the throttle 5 times. Switch off then start again and Robert is definately your mothers brother.

sorry to be pedantic, but the 52mm TB was never used on the S1 sport 160. It was from the trophy MGF.

Aye . . . and there's a shed load of info showing effectively no power increase using the 52mm TB . . . if it were my money and the 48mm was cheaper, I'd buy the 48mm one . . .

I also know of a couple of people who have changed BACK to 48mm as they found the part throttle behaviour a pain on the 52mm TB . . .

YMMV, etc, etc, etc

Thanks again for the info, I mentioned the 52mm one was from the trophy MGF in my original post, just added the S1 sport because I thought they had a larger throttle body as well, got bo**ocked by somebody last time for saying that the alloy bodies were from the Elise
