Hi there does anyone know here i can get the rear window replaced on my car ?

It's got a crack in at the bottom and is difficult to see through any way.

I looked on car hoods direct and they only list the chimera and s series for £395 exc vat for a brand new mohair hood.

I'm based in the midlands (Birmingham) so it would be nice if it was relatively local.

Thanks

Mike

Not that close but D&C Blackpool on the old TVR site. They used to work for TVR and have all the templates.

Don't quote me on this but I am sure they said around £200 albeit a couple of years ago

Yeah mine has a couple of cracks - don't know if it's hard to see through though because I never look through it!!!

I was looking on the flea there's some boat window plastic you can get, e.g. item number 141541853578, looks to be enough for 2 windows? For about 60 quid, I'd go halves if you're interested...

Unpick the stitching around your old one and stitch in the new one by hand, probably won't take too long.

I would personally recommend these guys but they are a bit far from you, However they can supply if you can find someone to fit it...Unless its a job you wish to under take?...There are some factors if you do.

try the "hood guys" in Kings Heath (behind the high street)

replaced just the window on my chim

If its just the window it will not be expensive as its a straight forward rectangle

Hi Glen,

Called the hood guy's as recommended, They want £200 to replace the rear window !!!.

Been looking on e bay and can get the screen for £15.00 but it has to be 0.75mm thick due to the way the hood folds down.

Gotta measure the rear window when i get to my car tomorrow to make sure of the sizes.

I might have a go at sewing it myself.

I recently had my wife re stitch some of the corners on my chim screen..........took me a couple of hours to take the screen out......wife a couple of hours to re stich.......and a couple of hours to re fit (total faff)

and after all that I still had the original screen and took me as least a full day all up, perhaps a little more and that was just for a hand full of inches to re stitching

200 notes is not that bad as they will strip of the old hood, re glue, re stich new screen and it will look neat as they'll use a decent machine (my wife's effort is good, see below but still no substitute to a industrial sewing machine, unless you have one of course)

As said trying to stitch it by hand is a nightmare, You need to stitch through two lots of mohair and a plastic window, Even with thimbles and leather needles you will struggle...I have an industrial machine but you are miles away...If you look on the site i linked you will see that they sell them for D.I.Y fitting, For another £100 more you can have the whole rear section.....

I am having a think about a complete new hood at mine has some damage along the rear edge and the flat section on the top has a mark as the roof was put into the boot and then rubbed against the boot look pin.

That's why i don't want to pay over £200 quid for a new rear screen when for the bit extra i can have a new roof.

I'm trying to get it usable while the weather is good so i can have a play in it as it's off road at the moment.
