Front drivers side bulb has just went out and was wondering whether to replace both at the same time. Is there any recommendations or am I better just sticking to oem?
Can't comment on the bulbs, I just used OEM, but installation is a right royal pain in the nether regions, having said that the passenger side is even worse (you have to move the PAS reservoir, at least I had to on the 3.0tdi)Ours is an 08 A6, so presumably the same as yours.
Last two times the bulb has gone, my wife had the car and she's had them done at Halfords for the sake of the £6.99 they charge.
As it turns out, it was the right decision. The lad's face dropped when he realised it was an A6. I can't remember off hand, but one side is relatively easy, and the other is a right royal PITA and involves removing quite a lot of other kit. And it's even worse if it's an S-Line/Le Mans as ours is.
We've always been disappointed with the lights on ours so last time they went the missus got them to put brighter bulbs in, and we got both done to make sure the lights matched and because they were doing a buy one get one half price.

Passenger side is worse, see my earlier post. Halfords often refuse to do A6 bulbs. Last two times the bulb has gone, my wife had the car and she's had them done at Halfords for the sake of the £6.99 they charge.

I had to change the driver's side Xenon on my 58 reg Le Mans a few years ago. It took around 45 minutes, once you've done it once it would take half the time.
It's just a case of removing the air box and air inlet into the engine. You do need to dislocate your wrist to change the bulbs though
