Do you know this Vette
Discussion
I have just received an e mail from the States from an owner trying to get some history on his car. It's a bit of a longshot, but does anyone know anything that might help this guy? E mail is copied below.
Hi,
My name is John MacPherson and I am trying to research the history of my
white 1960 Corvette with Silver Coves and Red interior. The VIN# is
00867S109293 and I purchased the car here in the USA in the state of Georgia
in the fall of 2003 from a dealer who will not give me any info. as to the
history. I did find in the trunk of the car an old flyer for the car
advertising it for sale with pounds or marks for currency. This has led me
to believe that the car possibly came from the United Kingdom or Germany. I
also discovered that the interior was originally blue or Turquoise and that
the car was always Ermine White. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I
truly love the car!!
Best Regards,
John MacPherson

Only person who might know would be someone like Tom Falconer at Claremont, but don't know if he keeps details of VIN numbers when he buys/sells cars.
The VIN numbers only went up to 10261 so his is quite a late car. There were 3,717 white ones produced in 1960 making it the most common colour.
It would be interesting to see what engine options the car has and any of the RPO codes.

"Either pounds or marks"
Clear as mud then. The C1 Vette was never officially sold here and it would be more likely to have gone to the UK or Germany via the US Forces but I don't know if they keep records of things like that. I doubt it. I iomagine if it's in the States, it may have been an attempt to sell it rather than a sale and a re-export.
