Is anyone interested in a Corvette only evening of Drag Racing followed by a BBQ at Shoreham Airport one evening in late spring ?
We can hire the runway and apron from 7.30 onwards - yes, once all the planes have finished playing- - and we can organise either a gentle cruise up and down the landing strip admiring the sunset or spend a couple of hours laying down large stripes of rubber, racing, drifting or whatever until it gets too dark.

I need numbers given that it's around £300 for the strip plus a bit extra for the food.

I would like to restrict it to Vettes initially, but if less desirable types want to come along they can join in too. (at a premium price obviously) - not F**ds though,we must maintain standards.

Shoreham is between Worthing and Brighton easily accessed off the A27.

Here is a page showing some recent events- if you roll down past the beer festivals, which are clearly the most interesting events, there's some news about the annual TVR evening (2nd June), from whom I stole the idea

Ok I've had a good reaction from the Sussex crowd -I will contact the Airport and put up some suggested dates later this week.
It would be good to get some interest from outside the immediate area though....

Remove your blower? Your whole engine is removed at the moment, does that make even more fair. You could always borrow one of our cars anyway, I think the truck is still insured for you!

If i can get my engine back together by then it would be a good place to start practising.
BTW, love the sound of the pace car.

Having regard to the distances some people will have to drive to get to Shoreham, I think Saturday 2nd July would be the best day for the event.
I am hunting arounfd for some basic timing equipment and a christmas tree to hire for the evening. If anyone has an idea where I can get hold of the stuff please let me know.

Well I think you've left it a bit late for a Christmas tree now, don't you. All the real ones would now be dead and all the stores have sold off the fake ones in the Jan sales.

Sounds like a good idea!

Don't know about Christmas tree but if you speak with C5ragtop (Richard) he is a bit of an expert on lighting and he has his own light show

Great idea - my birthday. I'll have a gallon of petrol or a tyre from each of you, or maybe a brake pad, thanks!

Why not do the drag race start the traditional back-street way with a dolly-bird dropping a flag ? That'd be Pete's birthday treat !

At least I only dream about chevy toy boys, Keith's dreams are more of the 4 wheeled variety and involve showing Fords his rear number plate! (If anyone is wondering why I can give blown 5.0 abuse he's my daughters other half and converted her and my son to Mustangs!)
