Vibration/rattle from exhaust

Hi,
I've a slight vibration that can be felt when setting off/engaging the clutch on my 2010 Cayman. I don't think it's a clutch or flywheel issue but the vibration seems to cause a resonance and produce a rattle at about 900-1100 rpm once the car is warmed up which is rather annoying and makes the car sound broken to bystanders if manoeuvring at slow speeds. I found someone with a video (https://youtu.be/BMu3OaJZR3E) of the same problem and they've replied saying they never got to the root cause. Can any one on hear suggest where to investigate?

Any heat shields you can check for looseness?

I've tried shaking the heatshield I can get to easily around the silencer boxes and all seems fine, but I've not been able to as far back as the cats. I did notice the metal straps the hold the silencer to the mounting bar are a little slack but I didn't know if this was normal or where I could buy replacements online.

There are a number of heat shields as you've noticed and it could be any one of them. Best to get it up in the air and have a good prod around.

I redid the big round clamps on the exhaust on mine and it removed a ziss/rattle at idle. They are 'crimped' so by undoing them and freshening the crimps it holds better.
The crimping is to allow for silencer expansion which is why it does not do it when hot 'cos the fit is better.

Thanks for the suggestion and advice. I'll try get under the car and have a proper look. I may see if I can get the straps off and adjust them to get more tension in them.

I've had these sorts of issues sorted out many many times. There are several heat shields, very poor quality straps that hold the back boxes on, studs that work loose, once I even had a cable knocking against the back box making a tapping noise that slowly drove me mad. You can't really find them without the car on a ramp, if you have no luck go to a good Indy garage, one that doesn't have a posh showroom and nice coffee, they'll probably fix it for you in 20 mins

Hi Bennachie, this was spot on. I did this myself but it came back, I had my local indy remove and shorten the straps to tighten them up and its been fine since.
