Following on from previous threads my sons new MTB has screeching front discs brakes. The bike is new and I have bleed the front brakes and they work well just make a racket.

Anything I can do to stop this?

Are the pads clean?
If you got any oil on the pads when you bled the brakes then they'll squeal badly and you'll need new pads.

Try cleaning them and the rotor with brake cleaner and see if it helps.

Use them. A few hard stops in a row often stops it.

Thanks chaps. Seems like a good excuse for me to go out on it for some Italian Pedal Powered tuning wink

Heavy use can usually clean the discs, but it can take a while and occasionally the contaminant can react chemically with the rotor or pad material and mean you'll never restore the original performance or feel.

Best to use brake cleaner and get rid of whatever is on there.

Just had this issue with a set of boggo Shimanos BR-M395 on my new MTB, turned out they were leaking and had contaminated the rotors. Replaced under warranty.
