Jaguar F-Type Alternatives for bangs, crackles and pops

I'm starting to look for a car to use on my daily 6 mile commute, which involves parking at a public car park during the day. I've tried out a Jaguar F-Type V6S Convertible with the switchable active exhaust and love the bang it makes on upshift, and the crackles and pops on overrun when you lift off the throttle, especially the fact you don't really have to push it very hard to get this.
Now, given it's a commute car, I'm not really bothered by the looks, and the fact the car is quite wide and it is 2 doors with really long doors is a negative thing since I need to be able to get in and out of the car in potentially tight space. Also I won't really be making much use of the sub 5 second 0-60 time.
So the question is, rather than spending around 40k for a car, which admittedly is a very nice car to drive and have (and nice enough to forego the practicality), what are my alternatives given the following criteria...
1> Must give a nice parp/bang/pop on upshift
2> Must have crackles and pops on overrun (and sound almost as loud as the F-Type)
3> Must be Automatic (lots of traffic on the way home)
4> Less than 35k in price (basically significantly cheaper than an F-Type)
5> 3 years old or newer (less than 50k miles on the clock)
6> 0-60 in <7.5 secs (I need 'reasonable' performance!)
7> Must be cheaper to buy and own than the F-Type (or I might as well get the F-Type!)
8> Not a Porsche (edited to add this line in)
So far my short list is:-

2> Mini Cooper S 5dr automatic with switchable JCW Pro Exhaust
Other cars I've thought about but do not fullfill requirements...
a> Audi TT Coupe mk3 S-Tronic (no pops on overrun)
b> BMW 135i 5dr (no pops on overrun)
Any suggestions on a car which would fulfill all of my criteria are most welcome.

My problem is the Mini Cooper S gets me what I want for half the price, but it doesn't sound quite as good. A current model RS3 however is a bit too close in price to the F-Type.

You're budget should get a very nice, lightly used 2-3 year old one. A simple and cheap exhaust mod (remove the secondary cats and resonator, replace with straight pipes + X pipe / H pipe), and hey presto! Pops and bangs
It's also the last normally-aspirated AMG V8, something that should be treasured.

Sorry, but can't be a Porsche... Got a 997.2S with PSE already (which unfortunately doesn't have the pops on overrun - I believe it's the 981 and 991's which do but they cost more than an F-Type!).
Fit the Sharkwerks bypass instead of the centre silencer to hear more of the noise. Quite good on the overrun. Edited by Magic919 on Sunday 20th December 13:37

Popping and banging on _anything_ even vaguely modern is faked. "Real" popping and banging comes from the spontaneous combustion of unburnt fuel in the exhaust. Nothing with mapped injection does that, and it would be emissions-test death.TooMany2cvs said:
