I don't think it's the same car. Very similar - the cast magnesium wheels made me think Tojeiro.threespires said:
Great answers.
My info is that it's a Tojiero Lea-Francis driven by C.M Sears at the Cambridge 50 Car Club Snetterton Speed Trial in June 1953.
It's the same chassis as the two cars already mentioned. John Tojeiro laid down a run of 4 cars of this type, so this will be Chris Sears', the 3rd produced. After that the famous barquettes came into being. My info is that it's a Tojiero Lea-Francis driven by C.M Sears at the Cambridge 50 Car Club Snetterton Speed Trial in June 1953.
Hope you've been good this year...
No much to add unfortunately. I've looked through Motorsport and the only refernce to C. M. Sears' Tojeiro is a brief mention in a race at Thruxton on August 3rd 1953 where it is described as a Tojeiro MG - you can read this here:

However, this may also be worth a look:

Thanks for this update, I must say an MG engine would seem more likely than Lea-Francis. It was mention of the L/F engine that drew me to the photo. I think my original source is possibly incorrect. I'm sent a monthly pdf called Historic Review published by the Eastern Counties Motor Club which is where I got the info.
My area of interest is more in rallies of the '50's rather than racing as my parents were keen competitors.
I got my info from Anthony Pritchard's excellent book "Specialist British Sports Racing Cars of the 50s/60s"/
In it he says that the first car was bought before it had been completed, by Chris Threlfall, who fitted a cycle-winged body and the hybrid Wolseley/MG engine. The second car was bought by Brian Lister for Archie Scott-Brown to drive (after Lister realised he wasn't as good!) and this had the big twin JAP motor. Chris Sears used a Lea-Francis engine and a fourth car was sold to Lionel Leonard, which had bodywork which was later copied for the Tojeiro-Bristol of Cliff Davis which in turn was transferred to the AC Ace.
I have seen photos of the Threlfall car and this is not it. I'm sure it's the Sears car, and the LeaF engine is correct. Pritchard is rarely wrong.
