Boxter 986 or 987 for max £10k
Discussion
Hi, I'm looks my my first Porsche. It'll be us d as a daily for either the 3 mile trip to the station or the 100 mile round trip to the office. For cost efficiency it's normally the trip to the station!
My budget seems to put me bang in the middle of the models. Do both models suffer the same issues and given the budget, which model would you go for?

My thinking was based on my having looked at 10k boxsters over summer. I 'watched' a £10k 77k mile 987 3.2 S for months, which had started at £12k. It seemed like tremendous value, but I'm a perfectionist and I quickly put together a list of preventative maintenance and upgrades which made it much more expensive.
Then I started looking at 986s and realised £8k is enough for a good one. It would seem a shame to turn down the 'right' car because it needs tyres, brakes or a service, so I think if you limit the budget and keep something back you'll increase the range of good 986s.
