I'm thinking of getting an early (08) C63 AMG saloon an have some questions:

Are 60/40 split folding rear seats an option or standard for the saloon?
I have looked at a few ads and some list it, some don't. It may be the case that it has simply been left out of some ads though rather than not being an option?

Performance Package:
What is exactly listed within this? Is the LSD part of the PP or is it a separate option/not even available at all on early cars?
I've done a search on here but most threads are quite confusing when trying to work out what is and isn't included.
It is much easier to find out what is included in the PPP but of course this isn't available on the earlier cars I'm looking at.

Other options...
Can anyone guide me to somewhere online were I can see a comprehensive list of available options please? I can find references to various packages that were available but cannot see exactly what was included within these. Perhaps I've been looking in the wrong place.

Thanks in advance.

Mine had folding rear seats - it was a must. However this is a rare option and is not standard.

2008 to 2009 PP came with 457bhp, LSD, upgrade 2-peice performance brake discs and red calipers, stiffer suspension carbon boot spoiler and suede wheel.

2009/10 and on PPP (perf pack PLUS) came with 487bhp engine (grey inlet manifold instead of pale creamy one), composite (ali and steel) brake discs and red calipers, carbon boot spoiler, suede wheel and a trim option or two. LSD was an additional and not always spec'd additional cost option. Performance suspension was also a cost option.

PPP definitely carries a good premium over standard cars. In fact, I sold my 2010 PPP in 2014 and it has lost no money since that point despite adding over 25k miles and 18 months. Buy PPP if you can.

Thank you both for your replies.

Eddie, thanks a lot for that detailed info. Your name has cropped up quite a lot on here while I've been trawling through previous threads for info!

I see that the general idea is to simply write down the exact spec you want and eventually, the car will be available.

For me:
Saloon
Not white
Black interior
HK sound system
Folding rear seats ( I think this adds an extra ball ache seeing as this was apparently an option!)
COMAND etc. (seems to be a given on almost all cars)

Regarding a PP or PPP model, again thanks for your advice and info Eddie.
I am just not sure that my budget will stretch to a PPP model. I am really hoping to buy approved used so I have a 2 year warranty - I appreciate this will come at a premium but am happy to pay it. An approved PP model is within budget though.
If I go for a PP car, I'll want 18 inch alloys as I hear the PP + 19 inch = no fillings.

I am going to call about this car and ask if it has split rear seats:
http://www.stratstone.com/search/vehicledetails/us...
It does have 19" wheels so this is one thing I would have to change but I am sure people want 19" wheels so they shouldn't be too tricky to get rid of!

That's a very good price.

That's a very good price, the warranty is worth 1500 a year, hurry though because the 2 year warranty and 750 deposit contribution is only till the end of the year unless they extend it

Maybe worth speaking to me as mine is coming up for sale, is newer with lower miles, in a rarer colour and higher spec! And it has the folding seats! Looking to move on in the new year.

It's a PP car with LSD and pretty much every option! PM me if you want, or even if you want some advice, as many people get confused by the options on the pre face lift cars and I did 8 months of research and views 10+ cars before picking up mine, so I would be happy to help!

The dealer in the AT ad seem to have decently prices AMG models for sale every so often. They had a grey C63 not so long ago, similar mileage, spec and price and either a blue or a black one too.

Are there any known faults with the W204 C63 that make it necessary to go for a car with main dealer warranty?

That's a very good question. I would be interested to hear other peoples' thoughts on this.
My logic was that I intend on keeping this car for a maximum of 2 years so a warranty for the duration would be great. Granted, there may not be any particular issues with the W204 C63 but for peace of mind and for the price, it looks sensible.

@RXED, your car looks great and I'm interested to hear about its spec. PM incoming for a few questions. Cheers.

I know that head bolts can be an issue on the earlier engines and the 19" wheels can crack due to our lovely roads and the low profile tires. Aside from that I've not seen much from my research recently.

I agree that the warranty makes sense for peace of mind and given the price of that particular car it's a no brainer when you compare it to ones being sold by regular traders.

No worries - with regards to issues, there aren't many. I know of two with the pre face lift cars. Firstly, all early cars (2007-2011) had a poor Earth on the offside rear light cluster that resulted in a melting earth lead and light failure. You can catch it early as you will notice the lights look dim. A replacement bulb holder and wiring can be sourced for under £20 and can be fixed in around 40 min.

The only major issue is a potential for the head bolts to fail causing head gasket failure and major engine failure. It's a major repair at around £6k I believe. But it has only been seen on a couple of cars in the UK and so I don't believe it's anything to worry about. You can take precautions by replacing the head bolts with upgraded ones from Mercedes (used on cars 2011 onwards) or aftermarket ones from Weissman.

Other than that, just enjoy the amazing engine and car! I love it!

if you go for that one, I would query the napa leather too, since I doubt it has the extra several k spent for that particular upgrade from the standard leather, maybe use it to negotiate lower.

Mine also has folding rear seats, can't imagine it was an option....??

Comand is standard, as is sun roof and leather. For some reason estates and coupes had DAB as standard too.

that car seems to have 3 options. The performance pack, the 19 inch wheels, and the HK sound system. Everything else listed is standard.

I would query what an "AMG warranty" is. Sounds like they have an in house warranty, I've never heard of an "AMG warranty"?
