2015 VW Scirocco R

hi All,

Used to post on here a fair bit, with My GT4 Celica, The budget banger Astra, the Puma and the Celica GT

Anyway after some issues trying to re login, I have re joined.

I still love my Celicas, but I wanted to treat myself to my first New car, as a daily fun driver.

It had to seat 4, Not OTT in looks, 3 doors and be turbo charged.

I did look long and hard at the Golf R, but I really like coupes rather than Hot Hatches, and the TT and RCZ for various reasons did not appeal.

Did some research, found some great leasing deals, and after a short wait for it to be built, took delivery recently.

She is in the Solid white, with the DSG box.




I have done over 1000 miles and I am really impressed.

Its my first ever DSG car, and my first VW for a good number of years.

Love the engine, the note and the punch mid range are great.

The box in manual paddle mode is really good, in town with the normal auto mode works well too. The sport mode less so, its a bit too eager at times and can be jerky.

Ride and handling, so far, in the awful weather has been excellent, roll on the summer to really stretch her legs.

I still have a project Celica I use for fun, and I do love the contrast, as the VW can be at times too efficent. however as a daily car, with which to have fun, I am over the moon

Nice purchase, prefer the latest R in coupe form too. Are these still front wheel drive with the trick front diff or have they moved to 4wd Haldex? I never understood why there was a slight deficit in power in the Mk6 R when compared to 1st gen Sirocco R.

Yes FWD, with the trick diff.

It uses the older 2.0 lump not the latest one, with 276bhp

The mechanical grip it generates is great, even in the wet with the diff. Although having come from a car with a proper Mechanical LSD its not as effective, the trick diff.

I do like the look of these. My old man has a 2 litre petrol GTS version and it's a nice drive. Think I prefer the non-R alloys (turbines?) though, but love the Volkswagen Motorsport ones.

Any mods planned?

Cheers I know that some really dont like the Sciroccos, but for me its a perfect compromise.

Mods wise, I am limited by the fact it is a lease car, but I do fancy a few of the bolt on carbon bits you can get.

New wheels are a consideration too. although I do like the current 19" rims.

Very good looking car, especially in white.

There's a white Scirocco R parked near my work and for years i've been driving past it, contemplating if i should get one as well, as i do really like them.

Awesome, hopefully we'll get to have a cruise at some point - think Idlewillo is gonna run a championship next year! And good man, can't ditch the Celica!

Funny that, I think they're one of the most awful looking cars in the road, just look like they're trying too hard to be a 'sports car'

Appreciate that they're a good car though. But I'd rather a Golf. Or Passat.

Hi mate, I leased one myself identical but manual I even opted for the black wing mirrors. Love the car and everything about it only negatives are the size of the doors in car parks and the sat nav which is pretty rubbish.

I don't mind the Sat Nav to be honest, it's only my first car with it as stock. Agree on the doors. I am looking to get some of the carbon mirror covers, as not a huge fan of the brushed alloy stock finish. Having done over 1k now, the engine has become noticeably louder and that bit looser. What do you think of the adaptive suspension? I am pretty impressed so far.

I've only done about 600 so haven't noticed the engine getting run in as you say, I think it's pretty loud as is much louder than my mates golf R. Can't say I've used the suspension a Great deal if I'm honest only used the car for commuting so never really had chance to give it a proper run.

Say nav is a nightmare to find the postcode input I had to google it go find out how.

Arh the delivery driver on mine showed me how to use it, going into city etc, so did not think anything of it.

My big gripe is the lack of the car net apps working.. its annoying having it in the set up, but not working.

I am still waiting on the dealer to comeback with a update.

I use comfort for my commute to and from the ind est where I work. It copes well with the shocking roads. I like the steering when you switch to sport, feels that bit more direct. Mine is louder than the catback stainless poweflow system on my Celica, which I like.

Lovely little cars these. Future classics perhaps if there is still petrol around to buy in 30 years time.

Don't know engine isn't the issue more than enough power however I wish they had gone with the Golf Rs 4WD system its struggles with grip only being FWD.
