AN12 over Thames Valley.
Discussion
Heard an AN12 over fly Sandhurst a few times recently, appears to be doing some sort of scheduled freight work.
I thought I heard it last night, checked Plane Finder, apparently it was 27,000 up and en-route from PIK, sounded a lot lower though.
Yet to actually see it.
So if your local, and you hear a very large prop aircraft, that's what it could well be.

Yeah sorry, it's landing at Luton now and routed over West London.
I do love these aircraft but I've not heard one fly over home for a couple of months now. A couple of the Cavok ones have been in the US, South America, Cuba and the Caribbean Islands recently, UR-CKM and UR-CKL I think from memory. I'm always curious as to what they are shipping.

Is there any way to set up an alert on your smartphone/pc to tell you a specific plane is going to overfly you?
Yes, I use FR24Premium on my iPhone and have a number of alerts setup.Mine alerts me to certain planes and helis by their registration number. You can also set this up either globally or in a radius of your current location.
I also have it setup to alert me of all global 7700 emergencies.
It's a great app, I also use it on the PC sometimes too.
