thread stripped from oil banjo bolt to top of vanos cover
Discussion
Hi all,
The oil line that is connected to the top of the vanos unit is connected by a banjo bolt with copper o rings. The threads in the aluminium vanos cover have become stripped and leaks oil badly. Spoke to a someone about rethreading it and is doable but the swarf is the issue.
I fear this may be a BMW dealer job. Any suggestions or ideas by anyone would be grateful Thanks.

It's a 2001 e39 m5. Spoke to someone about rethreading to hole. He said it is possible but needed it off the vehicle as he was worried the swarf falling in to the engine. Second hand parts would be a route I'd look at but I'm not a good enough mechanic to deal with it.
But I do know that BMW would only supply and fit new unit. Hence my dilemma.
