Just been out in 'Lise. Set out at six-ish in lovely evening sunshine. In a few hours, I drove down A-roads, B-roads and a few junctions of the M6. I wasn't booting the car, just driving it. I flashed a BRG Elise (S2 "51" reg - didn't see much else!) and a really nice red Elan ("M" reg - big bearded chap!). I lost count of the young kids who pointed and waved, one of whom shouted "Nice Ferrari, mister!". Great stuff.
The "Korsa Krew" were out in force, of course. The subwoofers almost as loud as there masseeve exhausts. I would've been quite happy to ignore them, but my wife has got a bad habit of ordering me to burn certain cars off (She asks me first, are we faster than them!). We arrived at the Lake District, bought a bag of chips, and then drove home! A topnight, really.

I also had a great run over the w/e - out and down through surrey back roads

Ended up at Bell- Colville - had a test drive in a 245bhp scoob (interesting) - then b roads back into london - via a riverside pub ...

Great weather for once - makes owning one seem worthwhile

I took my S1 Elise VTEC to Monterey California for the weekend, sat in the corral at Concorso Italiano pointing in the engine compartment and explaining how it gets converted over and over again. The main show is 300+ Ferraris and 50 or so Lambo's etc etc. Its insane to see a huge field of cars and everything you can see is a Ferrari.

First thing that happened when I arrived was a professional photographer made me drive to a good spot and took loads of pictures. He really likes the shape and the way the "new aluminium" colour shows the lines. Lots of people commented that its a very cool looking car. Also had a green 111S Elise running on military exemption plates (BFPO USA...) on view.

Next day we did a 100 mile drive through the mountains and an autocross. I *really* need wider and stickier tires, crazy tail out handling (200bhp into 205 wide P0's doesn't go :-) but managed to avoid actually spinning it. Various people had rides and drives and one young guy summarized it as "This car DOES NOT SUCK".

Sunday at the Laguna Seca historic races, corraled next to another VTEC conversion and the green BFPO. Cool to see so many historic Lotus race cars competing, masses of Lotus 11's and 23's, some 7's and various others.

Hope none of you got too envious, maybe the British gassers should arrange a trip to CA next August? We do this every year...

Oh yes, and I was happy
